We welcome May and the nice weather! We’ve waited a long time but spring is finally here! Every-where we look, we can see new signs of life! It’s a time to feel hopeful and renewed! We continue to celebrate the Easter season (from Easter Sunday to Pentecost -May 15th) at St. Patrick C.S.! Pente-cost celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the remaining 11 disciples after the resurrection of Jesus. We are also celebrating Catholic Education Week! During this week which runs from Sunday, May 1st to Friday, May 6th, we celebrate our Catholic identity. This year’s theme is “Opening Doors of Mercy” and students will be engaged in various lessons and activities in class that focus on this theme. We will begin our week with a liturgy on Monday morning. We will also be celebrating the month of Mary with a special celebration led by the students, and continue to learn about the person of Mary and her important role as the first disciple of Jesus.

April was a busy month!! Here is a list of all of the AWESOME things that went on here at St. Patrick C.S.!! Congratulations to our Tchoukball teams who participated in their tournaments and represented our school with pride! Thanks to all of our coaches who give of their time! We hosted the first French Immersion Robotics Showcase where our Grade 1 students and our Robotics Club showed off their talents. We also had a very successful ShareLife Week with Tape-a-Toonie! Thanks to your generosity and our efforts throughout the year, such as staff Dress Down days, St. Patrick C.S. will be sending a cheque for $1000.00 to ShareLife, in support of all of the Catholic community agencies that provide services in our community. We also hosted a group of educators from France. They were so im-pressed with our students’ oral competencies as well as the AWESOMENESS of our school. We also had an AWESOME Earth Week with recycling efforts and a yard clean-up. Mayor Parish and Council-lor Collier joined us to lend a hand! Thank you Eco-Team!! Students in Mme Oakes’ Grade 2 class as well as our Dance Team participated in Showcase of the Arts at Notre Dame. We sent a group of Grade 8 students to a board-wide TedX event. We also had a Jump Rope for Heart Kick-Off, celebrated our Students of the Month for Pru-dence, and enjoyed a couple of hot dog days. PHEW! What a month!

As we enter the second last month of the year, we ask you to continue putting our students’ safety before convenience by driving and parking safely when dropping off and picking up your child(ren). We also ask you to NOT use the bus lanes between 8:25 and 8:45 and again between 3:00 and 3:25. Please encourage your child(ren) to use the sidewalks and cross with the crossing guard.

Happy Spring everyone!!
